FWD: THP open house Sat. 11/22 - free

BELOW is a forwarded announcement from Trauma Healing Project (THP)  
about their free open house on Saturday, 22 November 2008, from 5 pm  
to 9 pm (in English and Spanish).

THP is independent from MindFreedom, but I've watched and applauded  
THP's many activities this past couple of years in Lane County.

THP, with warm and positive leadership from Elaine Walters and many  
others, has been doing a lot to educate and provide humane  
alternatives for people who have experienced trauma, including  
psychiatric survivors.

THP has especially actively and enthusiastically helped out in the  
Opal Network, which is a good sign that an organization supports the  
united empowerment of mental health consumers/psychiatric survivors.  
(And that's a big 'hint-hint' to agencies who have NOT yet been  
consistently sending representatives to actively participate in those  
important Opal quarterly meetings! Resolve in 2009 to do like THP,  
LILA and others, and suppport the voice of mental health clients at  
Opal meetings!)

It's exciting that psychiatric survivor Hugh Massengill, who is on  
THP's board and also on the MF Lane County Advisory Committee, is  
working with THP to do "digital stories" where truama survivors can  
describe their recovery on video and web to educate the public.

I personally intend to be at THP's open house, and hope to see many  
of you there! Ron Unger, coordinator of MindFreedom Lane County, also  
intends to be there. Spread the word, bring a friend.
