Brief biography:

Sally Zinman

Sally Zinman is the Executive Director of the California Network of
Mental Health Clients (CNMHC), one of the largest mental health
client run advocacy organizations in the world. Along with 20 other
clients, Sally founded the statewide group 20 years ago.

Sally's commitment to the rights of people with mental disabilities
came from her own horrendous experience in the mental health system,
including months locked up in a psychiatric facility basement and
beaten. She has dedicated her life to insure that what happened to
her as a person labeled "mentally ill" would not happen to other
people. She has spent the time since her own incarceration working
for the self-determination and freedom of choice of others who
followed her.
