time, you may hear Matt Morrissey as a guest on MindFreedom Weekly
News Hour Internet radio show hosted by David Oaks, as part of the
Progressive Radio Network.
The guest and host will will dialogue about how choice is getting
squeezed out of the current mental health industry, and how there
ought to be a full range of humane, safe, effective, non-drug
alternatives.

pacific. The MFI weekly show is live and free. Good news: The
producers announced that the sound level of guests on newer shows is
now fixed!
Matt will talk about creating working alternatives for people like
Matt and David who were diagnosed with what are considered "serious"
psychiatric disabilities such as a label of schizohprenia. Matt is a
psychiatric survivor and is now director of the adult day program at
Full Spectrum Progressive Mental Health, which is a major nonprofit
center in San Francisco that offers all-day voluntary programs for
adults and adolescents in severe emotional distress.
Matthew Morrissey, MFTI, received his Master’s degree in Counseling
Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2002.
Matt interned for two years at Burch House, a therapeutic community
modeled after the Philadelphia Association’s households in London.
While at Burch House he learned how to maintain a humanistic milieu
for people in extreme distress. Matthew also has a decade of
experience as an activist in the psychiatric survivor movement.
Matt's primary clinical interest is the facilitation of recovery from
severe emotional distress, such as
states of mind labeled as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder,
depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Other interests
include philosophy and its relation to psychology and psychoanalysis.
He is a member of the International Center for the Study of
Psychiatry and Psychology, The International Society for the
Psychological Treatments of the Schizophrenias and Other Psychoses,
The Society for Laingian Studies, and MindFreedom International. Full
