(2) VICTORY for John Kelly! Forced Electroshock Stopped! So Far...

Apparently because of many complaints caused by these MindFreedom  
human rights alerts, the forced electroshock of John Kelly in  
Rockland Psychiatric Center in New York State has been prevented...  
so far!

Mad Pride month was July, and reports and activities continue to come  
in from Africa... Canada... USA...

(4) Save the dates! Nonviolent protest on 10 and 11 October 2007.

We are screening the world for normality during a 48 hour period of  
October 10 and October 11!

Help answer the question, "Is there even one 'normal' person on  
Planet Earth?

You are encouraged to brainstorm and plan fun, peaceful protests of  
mental health system oppression, "normality," and "mental health  
screening" this October, especially during the 48 hours of October 10  
(World Mental Health Day) and October 11 (National Mental Health  
Screening Day)!

The special theme is youth. Creativity, theater, costumes and skits  
are especially invited. Take still photos and/or video, upload them.  
Events are already planned in Belgium, Washington, D.C., St. Louis  
and Accra, Ghana!

Do a "Mad Minute" where in 60 seconds you explain what you  
survived... what you prefer... and show us your Mad Pride!

As long as you follow Martin Luther King, Jr.'s guidelines, you are a  
leader in the International Association for the Advancement of  
Creative Maladjustment (IAACM), which MindFreedom launched during Mad  
Pride Month 2007.

(5) MindFreedom Youth Mental Health Project

MindFreedom is focusing on youth and mental health in special  
campaigns. If you are interested in participating, let us know. Youth  
and "ex-youth" are both invited, and leadership by youth is  
especially encouraged.

The campaign begins in Lane County, Oregon, but anyone can  
participate. Contact MindFreedom Youth Coordinator Martin Rafferty at  
office at mindfreedom.org. Next local meeting, with a special youth  
panel of psychiatric survivors: The MindFreedom Monthly Free Mind  
RoundTable on Wednesday, 5 September 2007, 5:30 pm, outside the  
MindFreedom office.

In the national media: By a funny coincidence, a Eugene, Oregon youth  
who supports the MindFreedom local youth campaign -- Skye -- happened  
to be featured this week challenging "normality" in the nationally- 
televised ABC "reality" show, "Wife Swap"! Martin is inviting Skye to  
tell us all about it at our youth meeting!

(6) Deadline Extended for New Issue of MindFreedom Journal: 20 August  
2007.

A new issue of the popular MindFreedom Journal is planned.

All MindFreedom members are especially encouraged to e-mail in  
*brief* reports and/or a *clear* digital photo to  
news at mindfreedom.org about individual and/or group activities,  
announcements, resources and news. Editors are calling for reports or  
quotes from any MindFreedom campaign activities such as the recent  
conference and Mad Pride. The extended deadline is 20 August 2007. E-
