For those interested in opportunities for nonviolent protest of
psychiatric oppression:

Each October the American Psychiatric Association holds its smaller
"psychiatric services" meeting (it's main meeting is in May). Though
smaller, there are still thousands of participants.

This October 5 to 8, 2006 the APA's "Institute on Psychiatric
Services" will be in New York City, apparently mainly centered around
the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel at 1535 Broadway.

Frankly, there's not much time for anyone who wanted to prepare a
nonviolent protest. I personally can't be there, either.

Based on what was fulfilling and helpful in other areas, that would
leave things like nonviolent guerilla theater (people dressing up in
pill bottles for example) and/or leafleting, etc.

A great easy nonviolent guerilla theater is "normality screenings."
There's a description and a downloadable coupon (we also have a new
smaller one) available on our web site in the MAD PRIDE section. It
would be great to peacefully screen psychiatrists for normality and
video it wouldn't it.

For those interested here's the APA event's web site.
