Below is a forwarded news item about an acclaimed musical band of  
people in UK diagnosed with disabilities, including "learning  
disabilities."

The band is HEAVY LOAD, and they are scheduled to play in New York  
City on 18 June 2008.

At the bottom of announcement are a couple of links about the band  
including to a documentary that looks interesting.

We thought you might be interested to hear about a trip we're making to
the US next month.

We are Heavy Load - the 'mixed ability' punk band from the UK, and we
are going to be playing a one-off show at Arelene's Grocery in New York
on June 18th with support from New York's own 4 Wheel City.

The gig is to launch the feature documentary about the band - 'Heavy
Load, a film about happiness' and will also be promoting their Stay Up
Late campaign. A campaign to ensure that disabled people who want go
out and enjoy music don't have to go home early because their support
workers don't work late.

This will be the band's first gig in the US and a rare chance to catch
one of their energetic, and sometimes chaotic, live performances -
which have made them cult heroes on the UK disability arts scene.
There will also be a preview screening of the film at the disThis venue
before the film's broadcast on IFC later in June.

We'd be grateful if you could you pass this email on to anyone you know
who has an interest in the disability music scene and we'd love to see
you on the night. Or anyone who just likes punk music.
