Force fluoridation vote in Oregon legislature

    MindFreedom Oregon says NO to forced fluoridation!

While MindFreedom Oregon focuses on human rights violations by the  
mental health system, sometimes "forced drugging" issues in other  
fields need to be addressed.

Forced fluoridation of water supplies amounts to a bioethical  
violation, an involuntary "medication" of Oregonians who are unable  
to afford bottled water or reverse osmosis or other expensive  
filtering needed to remove artificial fluoridation.

There are reasonable disagreements on the wisdom of ingesting  
fluoride, and adding it to the water supply. Therefore, freedom ought  
to rule.

Please contact your Oregon representative as soon as possible to  
oppose HB 3099, which would force fluoridation on towns of more than  
10,000 in Oregon. It is moving toward a House vote.

Please speak up for liberty and for basic bioethics: Stop forced

You may well know that the mandatory fluoridation bill (HB 3099),  
which also
nullifies any local laws prohibiting the addition of fluoride in  
drinking
water so that no community over 10,000 can opt out, has narrowly  
passed out
of the House Health Care Committee (with no recommendation) and is  
headed
for a vote on the House floor.  Time is of the essence.

You may already have alerted your Oregon MindFreedom members.  If  
not, the
following might be a message you could immediately send out.  While  
those
opposed have built considerable support among House reps, the vote is  
too
close to call at this point and always depends somewhat on who is  
present on
the day of the vote and who isn't.

Here is a possible brief message from your organization:

URGENT ACTION REQUIRED

Last Friday, House Bill 3099, mandating water fluoridation for all  
Oregon
communities of 10,000 or more, passed on a 5-3 vote out of the House  
Health
Care Committee and is headed to the floor for a vote.  Fluoride  
ingested for
the purpose of reducing tooth decay is FDA classified as an  
unapproved drug
making community water fluoridation an egregious assault on Oregonians'
right to individually choose our own medications.  Please contact your
legislator immediately and urge him/her to vote NO on HB 3099.  Find  
your
state representative here:  http://www.leg.state.or.us/findlegsltr/
