Empowerment Initiatives Inc. is seeking to fill at least three Peer
Mentor positions.
These positions will be on-site at an apartment complex in Clackamas
County whose residents have mental illness diagnoses and/or mental
health issues. The Peer Mentors will provide peer-to-peer support to
help residents process feelings, resolve problems, and address other
needs. They will provide skills training, help residents create
community, and work as advocates as residents navigate social service
agencies and community resources.
The ideal candidates will possess the following:
- life experiences that enable them to identify with and
support residents in their mental health recovery
- knowledge of public benefits and systems and the ability to
help others navigate these systems
- knowledge of free and cheap community resources and the
ability to help others access these resources
- the ability to work successfully with a multi-agency team
- knowledge of Person-Directed Planning and Recovery Action
Planning or willingness to be trained in these areas
Insofar as possible, Empowerment Initiatives attempts to staff
positions with individuals who, through similar personal experience
and with appropriate skills, can understand the needs of customers
with mental health issues and provide effective assistance.
